Continue reading “Greenhouse Makeover”Its finally the best time of year, gardens are in, flowers are blooming… life just seems brighter!! This year, we almost tripled our garden square footage by building more raised garden beds! I started laying out the garden plans and thought to myself, jeez I am going to need so many more to plant the garden in rows like I would in the ground. I did some research and found the square foot gardening method book at the library and so here we are, I am giving it a go! This is a super quick run down of this method and some pros and cons and tips I have learned now from planting this year (and just general garden maintenance tips). Hoping that it may help you to either start your garden or look further into why this might be the right way for you to plant in the future!

So as soon as we pulled the trigger on the acreage I know I would be starting to compost for the benefit of my garden and future gardens! However, trying to LEARN about composting from YouTube and Pinterest etc can become extremely overwhelming. There are thousands of videos telling you how that are all slightly different. What do I need? When is it ready? How do I use it? What can go in it? Literally I watched 1000 you tube videos and I had decision aniexty I’m SURE, at one point I was like nope to confusing. In the end, I just started and went with the information I had learned so far and hoped for the best. So, sharing some information below I found helpful and how to get going!
Continue reading “Sustainable Living // Composting for a total Beginner”I have been having some fun looking around at decks, patios, outdoor decor etc, knowing now that we will actually have a yard with a back deck/patio that we can spend time on! I kind of started throwing together some ideas I thought that I would love to eventually work on for an “outdoor living space” at the new house I someday hope to be able to put together for the short summers we have to really enjoy it for all its worth! This project might take years to accumulate all the decor I have picked for it, but thats part of the fun 🙂
